Leonard Cohen - Old Ideas Video
JB Newman Debut EP now available on Bandcamp jbnewman.bandcamp.com http Facebook: www.facebook.com ReverbNation: www.reverbnation.com SoundCloud: soundcloud.com Twitter: @SpookyJB Earlier today, Leonard Cohen previewed the first song from his forthcoming album "Old Ideas", due out in January 2012. It's every bit as beautiful as I'd hoped. Having been hungry for his new offerings for years, like a beggar at communion I devoured it eagerly and extend this humble homage in return. UPDATE: It seems there's a small contingent taking umbrage at my having made this recording. I don't profess to understand their reasons, save for perhaps a misguided and unnecessary kind of over-protectiveness. Nonetheless, it pains me to cause offence and I should like to offer these thoughts by way of explanation: There is no moratorium on gratitude. When a master bestows the gift of his work, it's customary to thank him on the spot rather than wait some indeterminate period until someone else deems it apt. I can tell you from experience that the finest thanks I ever get as a songwriter is to see my song take flight off another's lips. Leonard Cohen is the leader of the songwriters' congregation, and when the leader raises his voice in praise, the congregation sings with him in unison. Songs, like prayers, fly further on a stronger breeze.
